Raven Warner is a fifth-year senior matriculating at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she studies Computer Science and minors in STEM Education via UABTeach, a specially designed program to nurture and train a new teaching force of highly qualified instructors in STEM subjects — science, engineering, technology, and math. During her time at UAB, Raven was selected to work as a computer science cooperative education student in the DMV area where she completed a year long program enhancing her skillset in computer science. She worked as a Software Engineer, Space/Counterspace Analyst and Front-End Developer. In addition to her cooperative education and academic endeavors, Raven is the current Vice-President of Women in Technology at UAB where she works towards the goal of advancing women in technology, especially in computer science. Furthermore, Raven is an active member and former Xi Mu Chapter Centennial President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. which is an organization that continually seeks to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service as well as to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, healthcare, and the leadership development. Highly passionate about education and diversifying STEM fields, Raven's passion for aerospace was solidified after her very first summer internship. An Alabama native, Raven has had aerospace in her backyard from the very start. With NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and the United States Space and Rocket Center so close, Raven had the opportunity to have a first hand view of the magnitude of the aerospace industry. Therefore, when she discovered an opportunity she applied for actually meant working at MSFC, right in the mix, she took full advantage of learning everything she could during this internship. Since then, Raven's passions for space, rockets, and how computer science plays an essential role in the aerospace industry has fueled her drive and future goals.
