  • Patti Grace Smith Fellow, Class of 2025

  • Tuskegee University, Aerospace Engineering, ‘27

  • Host Institution: ULA

Michaela Fuller is a sophomore at the illustrious Tuskegee University, where she is pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. She is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). In addition, she serves as a University Ambassador, acting as an official hostess for Tuskegee University. Her involvement in these organizations has helped her develop valuable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Michaela's passion for engineering flourished after she attended an all-girls Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) conference. While each engineering pathway captivated her, she decided to focus on becoming an Aerospace Engineer. Her commitment to aerospace engineering was further solidified during her junior year of high school when she participated in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Texas High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) and the Moonshot Programs. These experiences allowed her to interact with NASA engineers and gain insights into the preparations for the upcoming Artemis moon missions. Although these opportunities were time-consuming and rigorous, they were immensely rewarding, deepening her appreciation for the nation’s space program. Michaela’s long-term career goal is to contribute to the Artemis missions, which aim to advance human space travel to the moon and ultimately Mars. While Michaela's academic and career ambitions are significant, her intrinsic goal of helping others is equally important. She aims to use her education and career to become a visible advocate for young female scholars considering a future in engineering. She is eager to share her knowledge and to “pay it forward,” encouraging them to become future change agents and, inspiring them to “design their world” through engineering. Outside of her academic pursuits, Michaela enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading sci-fi novels, practicing calligraphy, and expanding her knowledge of the aerospace industry. She is excited to be a 2025 Patti Grace Smith Fellow and to intern with United Launch Alliance (ULA). Michaela looks forward to connecting with other Patti Grace Smith Fellows and professionals in her field.
