McKenzie Jean-Baptiste, a senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is majoring in Software Engineering with a minor in Cybersecurity Engineering. Her role as the Vice President of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and her dedicated service as a Resident Advisor for four years reflects her unwavering commitment and leadership in creating supportive communities. As the eldest of six siblings, McKenzie has always embraced her role as a role model. She strives to inspire her five younger brothers and the younger generation who dream of STEM careers. She is passionate about demonstrating that their aspirations are not only valid but achievable. Her journey to engineering began with a childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, a passion rooted in her love for space despite facing discouragement for dreaming beyond "normal" career paths. While recovering from a significant health challenge during her first year of high school, McKenzie made a life-changing decision to follow her own path, reigniting her passion for space. Initially pursuing Aerospace Engineering, she pivoted to Software Engineering to leverage her skills in contributing to the aerospace industry and advancing technological innovation. Through the Patti Grace Fellowship, McKenzie aims to inspire others to embrace their unique passions and pursue their dreams unapologetically.
