Langston Johnson is a sophomore at Cornell University studying Mechanical Engineering. Langston has always been interested in developing his technical capability and problem-solving skills. He loves engaging in various engineering-related disciplines including robotics, computer science, and machine learning. Aerospace engineering combined a vast intersection of skills and disciplines that united so many of his interests cohesively. To better prepare himself professionally Langston has taken advantage of many opportunities the Cornell College of Engineering has for hands-on experience. In his freshman fall semester, he joined the Cornell University Space Systems Design studio, where he worked on a test-bed satellite for the Alpha CubeSat Mission. He continued this work after being selected for an undergraduate research award. Currently, he is working on integrating and testing mission flight hardware. He has also joined the Cornell Rocketry Team which has been a great opportunity for him to put concepts learned in the classroom into practice. Langston is ready to embody the willingness to lead, develop professionally, and advance his technical knowledge. His participation in the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship represents the next leg of his educational and professional journey. In his free time, Langston enjoys running, fencing, drawing, and video game development.
