Patti Grace Smith Fellow, Class of 2023
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University , Mechanical Engineering, ‘26
Host Institution: Redwire Space
Jayden is a New Jersey native and a first year Mechanical Engineering student in the Honors College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She serves as a student intern for the Aero and Rocketry Teams’ Senior projects. Jayden appreciates the student intern experience because it has given her insight into what to expect her Senior year. She is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers. In addition to her studies, Jayden volunteers weekly at a North Carolina middle school as a Mentor for “Girls Like Me” - a community organization that encourages girls to excel in STEM. Jayden plans to be an example to girls of what they can achieve in STEM by providing support through tutoring and other services. Jayden’s other interests include building Legos- the more complex the better - and seeing Hamilton the Musical every chance she gets. She is looking forward to her Summer 2023 internship with Redwire Space and the opportunity it will provide to learn more about the aerospace industry and how she can make an impact.
