My name is Jamar Whitfield, and I am a first-generation college student pursuing dual degrees in mathematics and computer science at Louisiana State University. Driven by a passion for innovation and exploration, I aspire to work in the aerospace industry, particularly in all things software and data. I am honored to be a recipient of the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship, which has provided me with invaluable opportunities to gain hands-on experience, connect with industry leaders, and develop the skills needed to achieve my goals. As a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, I am dedicated to fostering diversity in STEM and creating pathways for underrepresented communities. My academic journey is fueled by curiosity and determination, exemplified through projects that challenge my technical expertise and leadership roles that allow me to give back. In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing and playing chess hobbies that mirror my love for problem-solving and tackling challenges. With the support of this fellowship, I am excited to contribute to advancements in aerospace technology and inspire others to reach for the stars.
