Hello! My name is Fadhimah Mohamed, and I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU). I earned my BA in Physics from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. My passion for space and engineering began during my final year of high school, where I discovered my fascination with aeronautical sciences through an aerospace engineering class. I found joy in building balsa wood aircraft models and launching cardboard model rockets on my high school football field. It was then that I realized my academic path would involve either mechanical or aerospace engineering, both of which apply core principles of physics to the design and analysis of mechanical and aeronautical systems. Currently, I am doing research in materials science, specifically additive manufacturing and the analysis of liquid metal droplet deformation on elastomers. I aspire to become an aerospace engineer specializing in sustainable rocketry, where I can contribute to technologies that drive innovation and benefit humanity. My professional philosophy centers around engaging in work that has a meaningful impact on people’s lives, and I look forward to expanding this vision through the fellowship opportunity this summer. Outside of my studies and work, I enjoy language learning, traveling, and hiking. I am excited about the opportunity to connect with fellow participants this summer and build lasting relationships with peers and mentors.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business.
