Patti Grace Smith Fellowship adds Caleb Henry to Executive Team
The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship, a nonprofit dedicated to improving diversity in the space industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Caleb Henry to our executive team.
Mr. Henry succeeds retired astronaut Col. B. Alvin Drew, Jr., (USAF, Ret.), who co-founded the Fellowship in 2020 with the goal of lowering barriers for extraordinary Black students to enter the aerospace industry. Now in its third year, the Fellowship has served as a gateway to the space sector through internships, jobs, personalized mentors and more.
“Progress demands constant growth and change,” said Col. Drew. “This year, it pleases me to announce that Caleb will join co-founders, Will Pomerantz, Tiffany Lockett, and Khristian Jones, in my stead, as the first new member of the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship executive directors.
“I am passing the baton to Caleb on matters of leadership and management of the Fellowship as I devote more of my time to assisting with selecting and mentoring our Fellows. Caleb brings resources, energy and vision that are just right to continue and grow the legacy of Patti Grace Smith and the Fellowship we founded in her name. I immensely look forward to working with him.”
Mr. Henry is the Director of Research at Quilty Analytics, a boutique research firm focused on the satellite and space industry. He previously worked as a journalist for SpaceNews and Via Satellite, where he wrote about the commercial space sector for global audiences.
Mr. Henry is a graduate of Grove City College, where he co-founded the group Students for Ethnic Awareness and Diversity, which provides a safe space for students to engage in communal reflection and reconciliation on matters concerning race, ethnicity, and culture. He has long had a passion for advocating for people of color in underrepresented environments.
“I am honored and humbled to join the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship executive team,” Mr. Henry said. “Having long admired the organization, I look forward to contributing to the Fellowship’s goals, improving the diversity of the space industry by creating more equitable access for Black students.”
