Job Title: Operations Coordinator
Job Type: Part Time, Hourly. Typically ~10 hours per week
Job Location: Remote
Wage: $35 per hour
Eligibility: Open to all US citizens, US nationals, those lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the US (i.e. current green card holders), and those lawfully admitted into the US as refugees or granted asylum under 8 U.S. Code § 1157 - 1158.

About Us: The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship was created in 2020 to empower Black Excellence in aerospace. It does so by providing extraordinary Black students with scholarships and with their first work experience in the aerospace industry, as well as personalized mentorship and a cohort of similarly driven and talented young Black people pursuing aerospace careers. To date, we have paid out ~$400,000 in scholarships, and helped ~150 Black undergraduates begin their careers in aerospace. Our Fellowship program is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
About the Position: In this position, you will help us continue to build on an excellent foundation by managing a highly esteemed program within the aerospace industry, with the goal of transforming the way diverse workers and leaders are recruited, selected, trained, and empowered. You will make a long-lasting impact on the students who earn positions in our Fellowship, the companies that employ them, and the industry. In this position, you will also help preserve the legacy of aerospace pioneer Patti Grace Smith, paving the way for dozens of talented young professionals from under-served communities every year to begin full-time jobs in aerospace. As the only paid member employee of the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship, you will be surrounded by people passionate about the mission of the organization.
The role is a part-time position. On average, we expect a workload of 10 hours per week. There will be busier and quieter times throughout the year that will be predictable well in advance, and which may be tailorable to the teammate’s availability. The workload is never expected to exceed 30 hours per week.
Your Mission:
Manage back office functions, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations;
Manage regular and routine correspondence with Fellows, applicants, donors, partners, and alumni;
Manage our online portal used to take in and review applications;
Manage invoicing and accounts payable for of host companies and partners;
Assist in the planning and execution of PGS Summits, including identifying and paying vendors;
Manage distributions of scholarship funds and branded materials to Fellows;
Working with outside accountants, prepare and submit annual taxes and other forms as required to main good standing as a non-profit; and
Collect and analyze data about outcomes for past PGS Fellows and programs.

Able to participate in a modest number of pre-scheduled meetings and calls outside of typical 9-5 working hours;
Driven, highly-motivated, and committed to improvement;
Curious and open-minded about the value of diversity and inclusion; and
Willing and able to travel (at PGSF’s expense) to our annual Summit.
And it would certainly help to be some or all of these things, as well:
Familiar with relevant software tools, such as SurveyMonkey Apply, Squarespace, QuickBooks, and Google’s standard office applications;
Familiar with the fundamentals of financial management and filing taxes for non-profits;
Able to coach, manage, and develop high-performance volunteers;
Experienced in coordinating virtual and in-person events such as summits, conferences, and banquets;
Passionate about aerospace and its impacts on the world;
Experienced in grant-writing, non-profit marketing and outreach, or general non-profit management;
Familiar with the current general state of the US aerospace industry
